With just three weeks since our final pitching in northern premier league game, our management team led by Steve Cunningham have been working hard behind the scenes ahead of next season
Squad Update
With no players on multi-year contracts, all players contracts expired after the final game of the season against play off winners Hednesford Town.
As such, there is no need for an official retained/released list.
Conversations are on-going with players both old and new; and will be released to supporters as soon as is possible.
With that in mind, we would like to thank those players that have represented the club over the last season and prior that will be moving onto pastures new for the 2026/27 season.
Manager Steve Cunningham told ashtonunited.org: “There’s plenty of work being done behind the scenes.
“The off-season is supposed to be time to rest and recuperate but it’s proving to be anything but.
“There are plenty of irons in the fire at the moment regarding players for next season and I’m excited for what lies ahead for the club.”
Pre-Season
Final touches are being put on our pre-season schedule.
Cunny continued: “there’s a fine line with pre-season.
“It’s not just about playing anyone and everyone.
“We’ve got to produce a programme that will help the squad be at peak performance for that first game of the season where ever that may be and whoever that is against.
“Conversations are being had with clubs at all levels for matches at Hurst Cross and on the road and as soon as we can share this then we will.”
Once the schedule has been finalised it will be published to fans as soon as is possible in order for travel arrangements to be made.
