Last season's losing playoff semi-finalists shared the points at Hurst Cross in a mid table end of season game.
Ashton restored Jason Gilchrist to their attack and in the first four minutes a fine run into the area by Darius Osei ended with Alex Byrne's shot blocked and Byrne's dangerous cross was then just cleared over his own bar by Jake Lawlor.
Sean Newton then needed to clear Kyle White's shot off the line for Ashton after Jordan Eastham had been sold short by a backpass but White was not to be denied on 24 minutes as he turned home Ollie Brown's latest overlapping cross possibly with the aid of a slight deflection.
Approaching the interval Osei's persistence took the ball to the by line but when he pulled it back Byrne could only help his header over the top.
Into the second period Amir Berchil and White combined with the attack ending with Harrison Hopper slicing well wide and just before the hour Jordan Thewlis was denied at the near post from White's cross.
The Robins found the equaliser on the hour as Callum Rowe won a challenge with Lebrun Mbeka and released James Hardy whose shot was palmed out only as far as Gilchrist who turned the rebound home.
Three minutes later they could have moved ahead as another quick break saw Hardy's swinging effort palmed out for a corner which dropped to Dylan Cogill who almost had too much time to steer his effort past the far post.
Eastham then needed to narrow the angle well to deny Thewlis after Berchil had set him up from Cogill's loose pass and after Callum Spooner was penalised for fouling Ollie Brown 25 yards out Thewlis sent his free kick skimming over as both teams had to settle for a draw as time ran out.
