The last few weeks have been very busy and as we head into the business end of the season Steve Cunningham would like to provide an update on the team.
First of all our skipper Luke Burke has picked up what looks to be a season ending injury in last weekends fixture against Stockton Town. Luke is an integral part of our team, a consistent performer on the field and being club captain a big influence in the dressing room. Everyone at Ashton United wishes Luke a speedy recovery.
Everyone at the club would also like to thank Remi Efunnuga for his efforts whilst at Ashton United where he has been a model professional however due to a lack of game time here at Hurst Cross both parties felt it best if we release Remi from his current contract to enable him to gain minutes and enjoy football elsewhere. We wish Remi all the best and he knows that the door will always be open to him at Ashton United.
Thirdly Brad Taylor has joined Barnoldswick Town on loan until the end of the season, this will enable him get experience and he has already proved his worth by scoring 2 goals in their midweek win over Abbey Hey FC.
Finally Sam Baird, almost the forgotten man but Sam is continuing to work hard on his rehabilitation following the injury he suffered back in October and is making progress on his long road to recovery.
