Match Preview: Leek Town (A) 2025/26

Callum Spiller10 Nov - 16:06

The Robins are back on the road again as they travel down to Staffordshire to face Leek Town tomorrow evening.

Steve Cunningham’s side will be aiming to make it two wins from two after their convincing 2-0 victory at Ilkeston on Saturday.

Goals courtesy of Darius Osei and Enoch Lusiama saw the Robins get back to winning ways as they look to bolster their league position.

A Word From The Gaffer

Speaking after Saturday’s 2-0 triumph at Ilkeston, Steve Cunningham said: “I felt it this week in terms of the stress of the job, not through the chairmen or the club because they are all brilliant with me, not one negative from the board”

“Ive got standards myself and we've just fell below them. I’m the captain of the ship so I feel it more than anybody”

“Today all I asked them was to put in a performance that shows a little bit of self-pride, how much you want to play for me, the football club and for yourselves, which you’ve seen in abundance today”

Looking ahead to tomorrow night’s trip to Leek, Steve Cunningham said: “We’ll rest up, sometimes you can get through a sticky patch with momentum, we did it three weeks ago when we played Hebburn on the Tuesday, Stockton on the Saturday and won two bounce games, we just need that little bit of a spark.”

Opposition Watch

Leek have endured a difficult patch of recent form, currently sitting 19th, just inside the relegation zone after going winless for two months in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

The Blues find themselves eight points behind the Robins with a game in hand.

Last time out, Leek suffered a 2-0 defeat to current league leaders Warrington Rylands, but since having a ten day break to refresh, ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with the Robins.

Last Time We Met

Both sides last faced off in March at Harrison Park, which saw Darius Osei’s early goal get cancelled out by an Alex Hurst hattrick, resulting in a 3-1 win for Leek.
