No time to rest for The Robins, who face a quick turnaround from Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat away to the high-flying Avro.
A positive second-half display saw Charlie Naylor claim his first Robins goal with fifteen minutes remaining, before Mikey O’Neill reduced the deficit further. However, the mountain the Robins had created for themselves, after falling three goals behind inside the opening nineteen minutes, proved too steep to climb.
A Word From The Gaffer
Speaking after Wednesday’s defeat to Avro, Steve Cunningham said: “I can only apologise because that first 20/30 minutes has won them the game.
“When we came out of the traps in the first five/ten minutes in the second half, I thought wow this is a different team. We had energy, we had legs, we were jumping on people, we were passing the ball properly, there was just a good intensity about us.”
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash with Redcar Athletic, the gaffer said: “Saturday is a good time to play one of the best teams in the league, let’s go and match them again and see if we get a win.”
Opposition Watch
The Steelmen enter Saturday’s fixture in fine form, currently occupying the summit of the Northern Premier League after fifteen fixtures played, winning ten, drawing four and falling to just one defeat.
Redcar continue to be fearless in the final third, notching up fourteen goals in their last five outings.
Last Time We Met
Redcar’s last outing ended in a 2-1 victory at Hurst Cross last Saturday, as the Steelmen extended their advantage at the top of the league, courtesy of first-half strikes from Bradley Fewster and Adam Boyes.
